Best Easter Eggs in Music (Part One)

Posted on: Nov 17, 2014

We've all heard the rumours about records holding secret messages, converting malleable minds to Satanism, and confessions of murder. But sometimes the truth is a whole lot goofier than the mad ramblings of the perpetually outraged moralists. So let's take a look at some of the strangest Easter eggs and treats for fans ever committed to music, starting with:

Empty Spaces - Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd's classic album The Wall, has had its fair share of conspiracy theories heaped upon it, not least that playing it backwards reveals some pretty unchristian orders. Well, that's not entirely untrue. Kinda. Sorta. If you play their song 'Empty Spaces' forwards you might hear some strange mumbling. Play it backwards and - behold! - you'll find a secret message. And what does it say? 'Hello, hunters. Congratulations. You have just discovered the secret message. Please send your answer to Old Pink, care of the Funny Farm, Chalfont

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles

The Beatles recorded so many awesome songs that there's at least one song in their catalogue that'll appeal to everyone. Including the hipsters who say they loved the band before they were cool, and the hipsters who say that they hate the band because they're not cool. So the metal-heads have 'Helter Skelter', rockers get 'Twist and Shout', and balladeers can listen to, well, more or less any McCartney track. But what about your dog? At the end of the seminal Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, right after the final track, 'A Day in the Life', is a 15 kHz whistle - a frequency so high it can only be heard by our canine friends.

Bloodbath in Paradise - Ozzy Osbourne

Another classic from the back-masking days - listen to the opening to 'Bloodbath in Paradise', from Ozzy's fifth solo album, No Rest for the Wicked. If you've got both the vinyl and the time, play it backwards - we dare you! -Nah, don't worry, you won't hear cultist ramblings or proclamations by Ozzy of being the Devil, and your brain won't explode. But you will hear the Double-O parodying a classic line from The Exorcist, in which he declares, tongue-in-cheek, that, 'Your mother sells whelks in Hull'.

Here at London Speaker Hire, we love music. If you're seeking all the audio equipment you need to make your party go off with a bang - or just looking for superb speaker hire in London so you can hear these Easter eggs with crystal clear clarity - simply contact us on 020 3333 4444 and our awesomely knowledgeable staff will be more than happy to help.

Top Musical Hellraisers (Part Two)

Posted on: Nov 04, 2014

In our last blog in this series we checked out some awesomely misbehaved musicians – or awesome musicians who misbehave. But with so many of them – it’s a rockstar thang – it’s impossible to fit them all into one list. So we’ll continue our wild-child romp with…

The Sex Pistols

The Sex Pistols didn’t last very long, but man, did they ever leave an imprint on music. Whether you dig on rancorous lyrics shouted at you by a maniacal front-man or not, it’s undeniable that the Pistols tapped into a certain 70’s psyche. Led by the rebellious Johnny Rotten and bassist Sid Vicious, the Sex Pistols sung about anarchy, Britain’s apparently foolish deference to the Queen, and swore on early evening live TV, provoking a maelstrom of indignation from the sort of people who the Sex Pistols hated anyway. Even 30 years after their formation, when inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, they declined the invitation, calling the museum a ‘p*** stain’. That’s punk, right there!

Amy Winehouse

Back in the early years of the 21st century you couldn’t open a tabloid without seeing the beehive barnetted Amy Winehouse groggily stumbling out of some hip London bar with all the elegance of a cat on stilts. She was described as a ‘filthy-mouthed, down-to-earth diva’ and ‘a perfect storm of sex kitten, raw talent and poor impulse control.’ It didn’t end well for the soul singer though, who died in 2011. Unless you’re Keith Richards, drink and drug cocktails rarely work out in the long run. She binged her way through copious amounts of vodka and straight into the infamous 27 Club. Just before she overdosed, she was well on her way down – missing engagements and rambling lyricless through tracks like ‘Valerie’.

Keith Moon

If you’re looking for a true musical hellraiser, look no further than Keith Moon of The Who. You could pretty much write a whole book on Moon’s misdemeanours alone. Moon pretty much created and defined what a rock and roll hellraiser should be. The British drummer had a penchant for blowing up toilets with dynamite, throwing TVs out the windows of hotel rooms, and he drank and drugged himself up to the eyeballs. As a consequence, he was banned from every hotel he ever attempted to check into. One memorable encounter with a hotel manager saw the man ask Moon to turn down his music as it was too loud. Moon excused himself, popped an explosive down the toilet and returned. After the loo was blown to smithereens, Moon said: ‘Now that, dear boy, is noise.’ On another occasion, he loaded his drum-kit with gunpowder set to ignite at the climax of The Who’s anthem, ‘My Generation.’ The blast deafened the band, singed Pete Townshend’s hair, and lodged shrapnel in Moon’s arm. Rock on!

So if you’re looking to really raise some hell at your event, here at London Speaker Hire we can help. We offer tons of great equipment to make your event a real blast, including PA hire. For more information, just contact us on 020 3333 4444 and our friendly staff will be happy to help.

X Factor Hype Sets in Once Again

Posted on: Sep 05, 2013

Last Saturday, the X Factor returned to our screens, bringing with it some familiar judging faces, including the triumphant return of the fiery Sharon Osbourne, and a whole host of new contestants and re-formatting. Show producers reverted back to the original format of initial auditions being held in front of judges only, rather than the large arena; a move which seems to have gone down well with critics, as nerves are minimised and personalities given more opportunity to shine.

Only one weekend in, and we have already seen plenty of drama, potential future superstars, and a fair share of failures. Some of the ones to watch so far are:

Tamera Foster

Tamera Foster, 16, originally auditioned as part of a duo, Silver Rock, but was eventually put through as a soloist. After battling the nerves and a rocky start to perform an incredible version of I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston, she had the whole audience behind her.

Hannah Barrett

The nervous 17 year old Hannah, who has fought through a troubled childhood, sailed through the first round, with an emotional and soulful performance that has firmly put her on the list of ones-to-watch.

Sam Bailey

Unlikely star, mother and prison warden Sam immediately wowed the judges with her powerful voice, performing Beyonce's Listen in her first audition, and continued to surprise in front of the audience. A good bet for the 'overs' category.

Alejandro Fernandez-Holt

Heartthrob Alejandro immediately wowed the ladies with a charismatic performance of Enrique Iglesias, and although perhaps not the strongest vocalist in the competition, he certainly has charm in abundance.

As X Factor fever is set to grip the nation again until Christmas, here at London Speaker Hire we are proud to have been a part in the large jigsaw of pieces that make up the show. In previous years we have supplied speaker equipment to the show, and also to some very successful previous contestants who have gone on to perform at large venues. We rent speakers in London to a large variety of performers, and stock equipment to fit a venue and crowd of any size and to any performance budget.

Our eyes are now glued to the screen, and we wish every bit of luck to the new round of hopefuls, some of whom will be lucky enough to sell out arenas in the not too distant future.

Why Not GoPro?

Posted on: Sep 25, 2013

GoPro just gets bigger and bigger. Originally designed for filming extreme sports, the versatile action cameras can now be used to film anything, from a snow monkey hanging out in a zoo to a freefall skydive, and once you start putting yourself into the perspective of other beings it's a habit you won't want to break.

At London Speaker Hire, we think GoPro has even more functionality than is commonly seen. Great for fast action moments, the GoPro is equally fun for filming your favourite days, from weddings to live gigs and even festivals. Last month we launched a competition with the hire of a GoPro as one of the prizes. That's motivated us to take a look at some of the most entertaining videos on the web. Take a look and get inspired to try out the GoPro Hero 3 system now.

Monkey Magic

In a change to the extreme sports footage that officials at GoPro often share on YouTube, this adorable video shows snow monkeys investigating an unusual object in their midst.

Spaced Out!

This shows the first GoPro in near-space, at heights of 80,000ft. The vistas are simply out of this world, or at least they almost are. With the GoPro experience, you really do get the feeling that this could be you up there with the camera. Imagine this on a large projector available from the London Speaker Hire Kit List.

Lost in Peru

This beautiful video shows more than just the highlights of a trip to Peru, although it does do that marvellously, but it also shows the intrepid group that set out on such a journey, the resilience of the camera itself, and our own interest in exploring the world. At 1,731, 672 views, this video undoubtedly shows our fascination with adventure and culture.

Underwater Calm

This footage of divers riding with sharks is simply breathtaking in its scope and breadth. The sea looks glorious and we can almost feel like we're there with the marvellous beasts ourselves.

These videos show some of the large-scale projects that you can undertake with a GoPro camera and there are so many more, showing how you can use the camera to film anything from skating, to throwing a bouquet at a wedding, or even dancing at a festival. Once you start having fun with the editing software, you could make anything into an arresting video. If you're planning an event, why not think about our London PA hire service to make sure the sound is great on the night, but also consider a top camcorder to capture it and delight over it later. Contact us to find out what great deals we have on equipment now.

A Recipe for the Perfect Party

Posted on: Jan 21, 2014

Here at London Speaker Hire we know exactly what makes a good party. Not only does a good party involve cocktails, it is in itself a giant cocktail of different elements that mix together to make a delightful experience. You don't even have to have an excuse for a good party but it certainly helps. Whether it's your stag do, a big wedding anniversary or a significant birthday, London Speaker Hire has got the exact ingredients for an incredible night.

"The Glass"

If it's a cocktail you call it the glass, if it's a party you call it the venue. Just like a cocktail you choose the cocktailsshape, size and type of venue to suit the purpose and style of the event. If it's a huge event where the costs are spread over many elements, such as a wedding, then it may be best to hire a community hall or the function room in a hotel. If you’re having a more intimate event, such as a 21st birthday, hold it at your house and bring all the party gear to you.

"The Flavours"

You might want to provide nibbles at a party or even have a meal beforehand; it all depends on what sort of event it is. For formal events like weddings, charity dos and balls you will probably arrange a sit down meal provided by a catering company. For more chilled events, such as birthday parties at home, you could provide a finger buffet or nibbles to stop people from getting too drunk.

"The Colours"

The colours in a cocktail are a result of the mixture of alcohol and juices which combine to make their distinctive appearances. At a party the colours come from decorations, lighting and possible fancy dress costumes. Having a theme for your party adds a lot of fun, as people can dress up and it provides scope for the kind of decorations you buy.

"The Alcohol"

What do parties and cocktails really have in common? Alcohol, obviously. One of our coolest pieces of equipment is the Jagermeister machine. This is perfect for birthday parties between the 18-30 mark, New Year's dos or hen/stag nights. These deliver ice cold shots that you can drink alone or use to make Jagerbombs. This will add a touch of excitement to any party as well as quickly helping a party get into full swing.

"The Mix"

The method of mixing a cocktail brings all the ingredients smoothly together to create one fantastic blend of taste. The mix of a party is the music because it gives atmosphere and has a habit of bringing everyone together. The best parties have well thought-out soundtracks and a capable DJ. We provide a variety of sound desks and mixing decks to create the perfect play list.

So there you have the recipe for an incredible party. Mainly, it's not what you do at a party that matters it's who's there to celebrate with you. Sometimes though, the little things like lighting, drinks, games and gimmicks really help to boost the atmosphere and make it a night to remember.

How to Set Up a P.A. System

Posted on: Aug 02, 2013

Setting up a P.A. system for the first time can be extremely difficult, or you may have an idea on how to set up a P.A. system, but you may be uncertain if you are doing it correctly. A P.A. system is extremely important for the sound of your voice or the music that you are playing as when not set up correctly, it can affect the overall performance of those playing or singing, and the enjoyment of those who are listening.

Step One: Ensure that you have all the equipment you need to allow you to set up a P.A. successfully. If you require any equipment, we have a P.A. Hire service available in different packages therefore one will suit the needs of your event or party.

Step Two: Position the speakers on their stands above head height, and in front of the stage area or performance area. This is to prevent feedback from the speakers into the microphones, but also to prevent possible hearing damage to people passing by the speaker and people standing in front of the speaker and blocking the sound leaving the speakers.

Step Three: Place microphones on microphone stands position. Ensure your mixer is plugged in, but switched off, and begin to set up the P.A. To plug in microphones or instruments use the channel inputs and ensure to plug leads in correctly. Speakers will be plugged into the master output sockets and controlled by the master volume controls. You must ensure that all volume for the microphones, instruments, and speakers are turned to the lowest volume control before turning on the mixer system.

Step Four: Turn on mixer system. One by one test each microphone and adjust accordingly until you get the desired volume. Use the same process for your instruments if you have them or with your recorded music if doing a DJ set. Play a track and move in front of the speakers to gain an indication of what the audience will be hearing. Consider the size of the room you are in and how many people will be attending, and adjust your volume accordingly.

Step Five: When you are satisfied with the microphone, instruments/recorded music and speakers when working altogether at the one time, you MUST tape down any lose cables that are around the performance and stage area. This is to prevent accidents for both you and your audience.

Tips: When you have finished your performance, packing the P.A. system away correctly is important. Untangle leads and neatly wrap up and place back in packaging. Likewise, treat with care the microphones and the microphone stands and speakers. This is essential to maintain the quality of the P.A. and to prevent damage to the system itself.

If you are completely unsure of how to set up a P.A. we provide sound technicians that will happily set up and test the P.A. system for you.

Tips for Using Lighting to Create a Wonderful Atmosphere for Your Event

Posted on: Aug 29, 2013

There are no doubts that event lighting is one of the most significant factors that need unique attention to bring the wonderful and exclusive atmosphere to life. Unique concepts of using the different kinds of lighting equipment can transform any empty room to an elegant and visually appealing ballroom.

In addition, lighting determines how your guests see the space, the ambiance, the decorations, centrepieces, brightness and overall colour. It also affects the photography. Therefore, here are three useful tips to successful event lighting.

#1 - Add or hide venue features

Many event planners learn that the ideal venue just doesn't exist. Factoring in funds, place, catering, capacity and many other needs, planners frequently end up choosing the best option while compromising in other areas. For some, this may mean having their space broken up by obtrusive columns. For others, it may need segmenting a ballroom with distasteful air-walls. For still more, it means working with tasteless wall paper or carpeting. Today's lighting effects can cleverly hide, reduce or play up different features to conform the room to the planner's vision. Some can shine in a way that alters the colour or smoothes over the pattern of existing walls and flooring. Others focus attention away from the unpleasant feature or alternately call attention to it while making it more attractive.

#2 - Add dance floor lighting

According to many DJs and sound system hire specialists, dance floor lighting takes your event to a whole new level, giving your special event the look and feel of a nightclub or concert. The only limitation of dance floor lighting is your imagination! With the use of an individual controller, your lighting technician can manage the patterns, pace, colour and other functions of the light fixtures. The colours are brighter, more dramatic and offer more combinations than ordinary lighting. Dance floor lighting also gives the ability to spotlight your unique moments and a real wow aspect to your event!

#3 - Add Custom Monogram Gobo

Custom monogram and texture gobos have become increasingly admired over the past few years. If you've dreamed of having your name in lights and be a start of the event then the custom monogram light is your answer. There are hundreds of pre-designed monograms to choose from or you can create your own and even match it to your invitations or event program. The textured gobos are patterns that shine on the dance floor or any focal point throughout your event. These patterns can really add to your design and make your images stand out. They can transform any dull, empty surface to a stunning backdrop. Both the custom monogram and textured gobos require a heavy duty light and quite a bit of power. They also have a production cost associated with them since each gobo has to be custom created for your event. However, these lights can add a lot of value to your lighting design and truly make your event unique!

London Speaker Hire's Own Grant Turner in Live UK Magazine

Posted on: Jun 11, 2014

This month's May edition of Live UK magazine features a familiar face amongst the pages, and it's our very own Grant Turner! If you wish to read the magazine in full head over to the Live UK website and subscribe.

LiveUK

Live UK is a publication that is dedicated to the ever growing music industry of the UK. The magazine focuses on the contemporary live music business, providing news, features, tour plans and other vital information for the people that are the driving force in the industry. This publication targets promoters, festival organisers, venue operators, artiste management, booking agents, ticketing companies and key media professionals, all some of our good friends and clients!

GrantMan

"The biggest impact of digital for us is that we can hold a far greater stock of mainstream products. As there was such a wide and varied requirement for outboard we had racks dedicated to this type of kit"

In the article Grant discusses the benefits of digital desks and how they have had such a positive effect on business for London Speaker Hire. It also mentions that the reduced size of digital gear leaves a smaller footprint in the warehouse allowing more rigs and desks to be available to customers! Digital desks can also provide another world of features that analogue systems can't match.

"We can now provide a wraparound service such as direct multi-track recordings"

Once upon a time a multi-track recording of a live event would have meant yet another specific desk, racks of outboard gear and another charming engineer to fly that system, but all this is eliminated with the digital gear, meaning we can offer much better value for our customers.

Even with all this digital equipment there is no compromise on sound quality, as well as it being much more efficient in all aspects, whether it is set-up time or transporting. There still are some artists that revel in the use of analogue systems, and there will always be a place in the industry for the diehard analogue fans such as the band Cheap Trick.

"At the Brighton Music Conference we had a window of only 2.5 hours to set up four conference rooms including wireless systems and putting in the QU16s, we not only hit that deadline but had time for a cuppa after."

This just goes to show that digital gear is revolutionising the way that the music industry works, with shorter setup times and less gear with bigger and better results, including that all-important time for a brew.

We are always improving our collection of equipment, and we are also proud to have the Martin Audio MLA Mini rig as part of our catalogue. Our Extensive Range of Branded Speakers

Posted on: Feb 20, 2014

As you might already be aware, at London Speaker Hire, our name speaks for itself. We specialise in providing sound equipment for many clients in the London area and beyond. Our services are highly valued by all of our customers, as they are aware of our expertise. Due to the experience we have gained in the market, we have the skill to pinpoint the features of a great speaker, and this is exactly why we stock an extensive range of speakers available for hire.

On our website, it is apparent to every customer which speakers we stock, and information regarding the products is also available to an extent. However, as an organisation that has always been very articulate, we feel it is our responsibility to make sure you, as our customers, have an accessible document that solely comments about the different speaker brands we have in store.

Mackie
Industrial leader Mackie's speaker designs are well known for being very reliable in terms of performance. Judging by the speakers we stock, it is safe to say the company largely invests into product design. Many of their speakers are perfect for all venues. For example, the Mackie SRM350v2, a 200-watt speaker, has in-built professional transducers. Mackie speakers are also well known for producing crisp sounds due to their clear and high frequencies.

LD Maui
This range of speakers is undoubtedly a groundbreaking design, as it is introduces a completely new portability characteristic that many brands have failed to achieve. The LD Maui speakers are suitable for musicians or DJs with very busy schedules as, not only are they easy to carry, but they are also wireless.

FBT Promaxx Speakers
Similar to the Mackie speaker, it is clear that the FBT research and design team invested considerable amounts of time into the Promaxx range of speakers that we have on offer here. The speakers are enclosed in a very modern cabinet design that helps eliminate any undesired resonance; facilitating excellent and clear sound production. Portability is one feature of the FBT speakers that makes it a client's favourite, as they can be easily transported and assembled.

Martin Audio Speakers
Founded in 1971 by Australian engineer David Martin, this company is now one of the most established speaker-manufacturing brands. There are various designs of their speakers; the DD6 loud speaker can be used as a floor wedge or an upright speaker for instance. This speaker also has a 6.5-inch neodymium woofer with a 1.75-inch voice coil to produce fantastic sound for a speaker of its size.

All these top quality speakers are available here at London Speaker Hire at very affordable prices. As mentioned earlier, we are a company that specialises in speaker rental for many customers in London and the surrounding area. If you need to know more information regarding the speaker brands we have on offer, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

How to Choose the Right Sound Equipment for Your Room

Posted on: Feb 18, 2014

When hiring sound equipment for a public event, it is essential that you choose the right equipment and get speakers that fill the room with sound. If you book a sound system that's too big for your room then you will find that the power makes the room vibrate, it can produce unwanted feedback and could even become dangerously loud. Conversely, if you choose a system that's too small, the sound could become distorted and it also may not fill the room properly.

How to Choose the Right Room
The size and type of room depends completely on the type of event you are holding. However, in order to maximise the sound quality, there are certain features you should look for. Never choose a square room or one with similar dimensions. If the walls and ceiling are similar in dimension, the sound waves all bounce off the room boundaries and meet in the centre of the room, causing some frequencies to be favoured; normally the bass. This is why large sound systems resonate loudly if used at house parties. Choose a room with a high ceiling, a hard floor and a lack of soft furnishings; as this will improve the acoustics. You should position your main speakers at least 1.5 meters apart and have them facing into the listening area.

How to Choose the Right Sound System
The sound system you choose depends on the nature of the event. If you are holding an awards ceremony, presentation or conference, then you will require a simple PA package from our range of PA hire options. If you're hosting a party you will require speakers, an iPod dock, leads and possibly lights too. For larger events, the wattage of our products increases so that you have more power to deliver a louder, higher quality sound into a larger space. We currently have special offers where we've carefully selected products for specific events. For example, we've put together packages for different sized parties.

The following table demonstrates how much space is required for set numbers of people, and from this you can pick both a suitable venue and a speaker or PA package.

Number of People Space required (standing) square feet Space required (space for sitting) square feet Example package
60 360 480 390w wireless PA kit
140 840 1,120 800w Karaoke party package
200 1,200 1,600 1800w iPod/ laptop party package
450 2,700 3,600 8000w Mackie DLM kit
600 3,600 4,800 5600w Mackie HD speaker package

Basically, when it comes to cconcerthoosing the most appropriate speakers and sound equipment for an event you should first decide upon either the capacity or size of the event space, and work from there. Generally speaking, the smaller the venue the less equipment you'll need. However, it depends entirely on the nature of the event, because a small gig with live bands will require plenty of extras such as mics, mixing decks and distortion peddles. The wattage of the speakers is very important to get the right sound level and power in relation to your event size: as a rough guide, choose speakers with a wattage that is 6 times more than your total capacity.

Ensuring you hire the right equipment to suit the room size and style of your event is essential as these factors will affect the quality of the sounds you're trying to produce. If you have any further questions about the equipment you require don't hesitate to contact us.

GoPro Looks to the Future

Posted on: Oct 29, 2013

GoPro has already received widespread acclaim for its unique high definition cameras across more than 50 separate countries, and this celebrated activity image capture company is still looking to improve its products even further. Designed to film hard-to-capture activities such as extreme sports, the existing range of GoPro cameras and accessories has recently been bolstered by a brand new model that came on sale earlier this month.

The new GoPro3+ is a smaller and lighter sibling to the established GoPro Hero 3, featuring a redesigned lens capability and a new battery with increased longevity. Released in Black and Silver editions, the new models exhibit more rapid Wi-Fi transfers, low-light modes and enhanced video functions, and all of this is contained within a body that is up to 20% smaller than the original Hero3.

Not content with the launch of the Hero3+, GoPro have also unveiled a trio of new clamps and harnesses to enable even more innovative videos to be taken. Most of these accessories are backwards compatible with the older GoPro range, and allow cameras to be attached to a variety of different surfaces, as well as upon head and chest mounts that are suitable for junior users.

GoPro has become renowned for the versatility of its camera products, and they have duly expanded to become the best selling camera supplier of recent times; including sales within professional production markets. GoPro have consistently enabled people to capture and share their life experiences in a genuinely unique manner, and some GoPro videos have achieved viral status in an astonishingly short timeframe.

One of the most recent GoPro videos to receive such attention features a fireman who carries, and then subsequently revives, an apparently lifeless kitten from a fire damaged house. The video (see below) was viewed more than 17 million times in under 3 weeks and, filmed on a helmet mounted camera, displays both the innovation that is apparent within GoPro technology and also its unprecedented appeal to a large audience.

Here at London Speaker Hire, our range of GoPro cameras and accessories is expanding all of the time, and we can't wait to see what new products are released by this exciting brand name in the near future! If you'd like to know more about the GoPro products that we sell, please contact us and we will be pleased to answer all of your questions.

Introducing the MLA Mini

Posted on: Feb 06, 2014

mlaHere at London Speaker Hire we are proud to introduce Martin Audio's new MLA Mini ultra compact multi-cellular loudspeaker array. We are the first company in the UK to stock this speaker on a hire basis. The MLA Mini uses the same technology as other MLA ranges, however the big advantage with the MLA Mini is the fact that it has a number of set up options. For example, in smaller venues the use of flown line array is impractical because they are so large, whereas the MLA Mini can be floor stacked as opposed to hanging.

The multi-award winning MLA Mini delivers a consistent sound across the audience, putting an end to trial and error tuning sessions and reducing sound spill. After we purchased four MLA Mini enclosures and a MSX mini sub power plant we debuted this system at Le Book (a creative trade show at London's County Hall). Two bands performed in front of an audience of 500, with everyone in attendance enjoying the show. Their experience was enhanced by the flawless sound from the speakers.

We are renowned for our speaker hire, which is why we invest in quality systems such as the MLA Mini. We understand the importance a sound system has on your event, so you can call us on 020 3333 4444 to arrange a demo ensuring make sure that the equipment is right for you. If you would like to find out more about our Martin Audio products then follow this link, you won't be disappointed with the choice we have available.

In addition to speakers, we can provide you with lights and microphones, to make sure that every aspect of your sound is in good hands. Investing in sound is not a decision to take, and helping you make the right choice is something we pride ourselves on. Whatever you need, we will have the right product for you and we will work with you for the best possible outcome. Feel free to contact us to discuss your individual requirements.

What Makes a Quality Sound System?

Posted on: Feb 12, 2014

Achieving good quality live sound is an art in itself. Frequently, a poorly received performance is blamed solely upon the artists in question, however more often than not the blame should actually liLondon Speaker Hiree with the sound engineer. When you're planning an event, it is the job of the sound engineer to make the sound run smoothly and without any issues. Successful live sound at an event depends upon numerous factors, and whilst this subject is far too detailed to cover in a single post, here are a few common concerns you should certainly look out for:

The Room

The room, or lack of a room, that your event takes place in plays a huge part in the amplification of sound, as well as its qualities of resonance and reflection. The generally accepted way to overcome problems with a location is to find optimum positions for the speakers. Minimising mid and high frequency is a must, and subs should also be placed to avoid any unwanted low frequency too. Spending an hour or two rearranging the speaker setup before an event is the key to making a real difference to the overall sound quality.

Sound Paths and Microphones

London Speaker HireMultiple sound paths should be avoided at all costs during an event, as should multiple microphones all serving the same purpose (i.e. centred upon one instrument). You'll also need to pay careful attention to the unamplified quality of your sound. If a particular sound seems to struggle when it isn't being assisted, then the best a sound engineer can usually do is to limit the damage. Whilst obviously unpleasant elements can be cut at the sound desk, don't assume that every discrepancy can be easily obscured.

The Entertainment

Huge sound problems can be created by the sheer amount of noise a band creates on stage, and controlling that sound to benefit the audience, rather than the band themselves, is often a challenge. Usually, you need to work at the lowest level you can, turning down the strident elements in the sound, rather than cranking up the weakest noises until they become distorted. Setting the volume of the event at a modest level is a practice that is all too often neglected.

With a practical mind and an attentive ear, a good sound engineer can ensure a fantastic atmosphere at an event every time. If trying to manage your own sound seems like an insurmountable task, look no further than London Speaker Hire to meet your needs. Not only can we provide a reliable service for speaker hire in London, but our superb sound technicians have an extensive degree of experience from a variety of projects too, so they can give you all the assistance that you might need. Are YOU Ready For The Big Games?

Posted on: May 28, 2014

If you are looking to make the most of this year's world cup event it is definitely worth hiring in some equipment to really enhance the atmosphere in your establishment with a few of these additions from London Speaker Hire.

l

Sometimes a TV screen just do the big game any justice, so what are my options you say? Here at London Speaker hire we also offer a fantastic range of solutions to make that big game massive. We offer a range of projectors to hire and pop up screens to get that cinematic feel for all your viewers to watch this year's World Cup.

The use of a projector can generate the biggest possible image size compared to the conventional television screen. You could use a projection system to make your very own commercial movie theatre and it is possible to get the image size to 300", however, the average size a projector will go to is 90-120", much larger than any screen available.

A projector can also be space saving as it can be mounted pretty much anywhere, be it on a coffee table, bookcase or even on a ceiling bracket. The use of a projector will get rid of that big black box that can look unsightly when not being used and pack away to next to nothing.

After you have your screen set up ready for the big games ahead, don't forget to get into the spirit and hang your team's flags, get the vuvuzelas out and get truly involved. If you are showing any of the Germany games this year why not hire a Jagermeister machine to help get your guests into the German spirit too!

London Speaker Hire offers all these options at incredible prices as we offer a lowest price guarantee. We don't just stop at speakers and can provide everything from projectors to full size PA systems so please contact us to discuss any requests on 020 3333 4444.
